GI Providers NEEDED at all 3 Locations

Schedule: 7a-4p, w/offsite call, and returning for emergencies only. 

6 month block minimum with option to extend

Patient charting/documentation is required to be completed on site and will not count toward OT

Level 1 trauma 

Practice Type: Hospital, Outpatient Clinic & Free standing GI Center

100% Adults

Support Staff: 5 other physicians onsite, 9mid-levels (6 IP/3 OP), OR team and CRNAs at the ASC. APPs to assist with rounding

Required Procedures: upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, Esophageal dilatation/manometry, manometry interpretation, small bowel biopsy, lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy (w/ biopsy and w/ excision of poly)

Preferred Proc: Upper GI endoscopy (foreign body removal, cautery vs laser, injections with varices, banding of varices, ERCP, EUS, liver biopsy, insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube, Advanced endo


Call description and volume:

- Call consists of inpatient rounding and inpatient/outpatient procedures. 

o On a weekday the most volume seen at location over the past 4 months has been 16 new patients for inpatient consults in one day. There is APP assistance for rounding on the “established” patients and can assist with the new admits requiring consults. Average new is closer to 10.

o On a weekday at location the highest volume is 10 new patients. Average is closer to 6. There is APP assistance for rounding on the “established” patients and can assist with the new admits requiring consults.

o We do have transfers from other location when there are emergent issues that unable to be stabilized and seen by a physician in the AM the following day. 

o Currently, advanced procedures are only performed at Location 1. We do expect a locum’s provider to travel to Location 1 to perform advanced endoscopy when they are covering Other location, if needed and the physician is capable. The travel time between hospitals is 10 minutes at the most and is 1.5 mile travel distance. 

o Procedures will not exceed 15 but is more likely to sit between 8-12 being a mixture of EGDs, Colonoscopy’s, advanced Endo if possible. The highest volume we have reached in the past 4 months was 12 procedures. 

o The on-site hours are 7 am – 4 pm. With off-site coverage being from 4 pm to 6:59 am the following morning.

o When OT is required, we will require a description of what occurred and required the physicians physical presence outside of the on-site hours.
