Call Details
• Typically, 2-4 calls per night ; 1-2 expected onsite call-ins.
• Physicians are not required to remain on-site while providing night or weekend call support but are required to round and discharge.
• When on call, physicians should only be on site for call-back hours while providing direct newborn care.
• Physicians are required to provide supporting notes on their timesheet entries to verify call-back hours.
• Physicians must document on the timesheet the specific reason for the call-back and should have a description such that the note can be validated if an audit report was generated in an electronic health record.
• Telephone call and medical record reviews should not be considered on site call-back.
• Average onsite call-back hours expected: 2-4 hours per day
• Attend some c-sections if necessary
• Attend high risk deliveries.
Expected amount of time spent on-site:
• If assignment is strictly 24-hour call: 2-4 hours per day of rounding, and remaining hours on-call with call-back.
Inpatient/Rounding
• Rounding to be done by locum provider on new admissions.
