Pediatrician - Nursery & Telephone Call (Weekends, Rural Hospital)

We are seeking a Board Certified Pediatrician to provide dedicated weekend coverage for our Level 1 Nursery and telephone call services at a medium-sized rural hospital. This ongoing opportunity is perfect for a physician who appreciates a low-volume, predictable schedule, and enjoys the charm of a community close to local parks and campgrounds.

Schedule & Responsibilities

  • Coverage Model: 1-2 weekends of coverage per month.
  • Weekend Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM (24-hour shifts).
  • Responsibilities:
  • Cover nursery call for our Level 1 nursery.
  • Handle telephone call for pediatric needs.
  • Low OB Volume: Our typical volume is 0-2 births over a weekend, providing a manageable and focused workload.
  • Provide care for healthy newborns (35 weeks gestation or greater) and manage minor newborn issues like low blood sugars or jaundice.
  • No General Pediatric Call: This position is strictly for nursery and telephone call, with no broader inpatient or emergency department responsibilities.

  • Hospital Type: Medium-sized rural hospital with a Level 1 nursery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Board Certification: Board Certified (BC) in Pediatrics.
  • DEA Registration.
  • Proven experience in newborn care and comfortable with managing low-volume OB situations.
  • Proficiency with the Epic EMR system.

  • Strong communication skills for patient families and hospital staff.
