Pathology Locum Opportunity in Illinois

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pathologist to provide temporary coverage for PTO

Nov. 24-28

Dec. 29- Jan. 2

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with no overtime.

The pathologist will be responsible for performing a variety of critical duties, including but not limited to:

• Sign-Out of Pathology Cases: Review and sign out pathology cases, ensuring accurate and timely diagnoses.

• Grossing: Perform grossing on surgical specimens with assistance from two histotechs who will assist with grossing small biopsies, preparing slides, and conducting special stains.

• Clinician Support: Answer phone calls from clinicians regarding pathology-related questions and concerns.

• Peripheral Blood Smear: Review and interpret peripheral blood smears as needed.

• Blood Bank Issues: Address blood bank issues, including transfusion reactions and comments related to blood transfusions.

• Cellular Adequacy Checks: Perform cellular adequacy checks for Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) and CT-guided biopsies.

• Night Call: Be available for night call coverage and respond to urgent cases as needed.

This role does not require overtime, and the hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with the added responsibility of being on-call for night shifts and 24-hour coverage.

Requirements:

• Board Certification in Pathology

• Strong experience in grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review

• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage a caseload

• Excellent communication skills to interact with clinicians and address concerns
