Interventional Cardiologist - Locum Call Coverage
Job Description:
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Cardiologist to provide crucial call coverage for our team in O'Fallon, Illinois. This locum opportunity is for a total of two weeks per month for June, July, August, and September 2025. We offer flexibility in scheduling which specific weeks are covered each month to accommodate your availability.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive interventional cardiology call coverage, responding to emergencies, and managing urgent cardiac cases within our facility. This role is essential to ensure continuous, high-quality care for our cardiac patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive on-call coverage for all interventional cardiology emergencies and urgent cases.
- Respond promptly to pages and consults from the Emergency Department, critical care units, and other hospital services.
- Perform emergent and urgent interventional cardiac procedures, including but not limited to, coronary angioplasty, stenting, and management of acute coronary syndromes.
- Collaborate effectively with emergency physicians, hospitalists, cardiac surgeons, and other specialists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Accurately and thoroughly document all patient encounters, assessments, and interventions in the EMR system.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, followed by an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship.
- Board Certification in Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (or equivalent recognized board).
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted Illinois medical license or be eligible to obtain one promptly.
- Clean background required: No malpractice history and no negative National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) reports.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a broad range of interventional cardiology emergencies.
- Excellent diagnostic and procedural skills, coupled with strong critical thinking.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
