We are seeking a single, Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) for an ongoing locum tenens assignment at a Level III Trauma Center in Walla Walla, Washington. This position requires a monthly commitment of 11 to 15 shifts, featuring an attractive night shift financial incentive and a streamlined onboarding process for clean files.
Position Overview

- Volume/Commitment: Full-time (3 weeks / 11–15 shifts per month)
- 11 shifts in 30-day months | 15 shifts in 31-day months
- Coverage Type: Inpatient ED Shifts Only (No standalone call)
- Guaranteed Hours: 10 hours per day (Overtime applies after 12 hours per day)
Shift Structure & Financial Incentive
Shifts are structured in 10-hour blocks with coverage ranging from single to triple physician coverage throughout the day depending on peak hours.
- Shift Rotations: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM | 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM | 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM | 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Facility & Clinical Scope
- Department Volume: 22-bed ED (15 rooms + 7 hallway beds) treating an annual volume of ~30,000+ patients.
- Trauma Designation: Level III Trauma Center.
- Specialty Support: 24/7 Cardiac Cath Lab, Tele-stroke support for acute activations, GI (~80% coverage), Orthopedics (~90% coverage), and Neurosurgery/Neurology (~25% coverage).
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Epic
?Requirements & Qualifications
- Board Certification: ABEM Board Certification is strictly required. (ABIM/ABFM candidates cannot be considered).
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Washington (WA) medical license and active DEA.
- File Requirements: Clean profile with no NPDB reports, malpractice actions, or red flags to facilitate the expedited September onboarding window.
- Responsiveness: Candidates must be able to turn around and submit completed privileging applications within 1–2 business days of receipt.
