URGENT HOLIDAY COVERAGE NEEDED to cover 24hr call coverage for 12/24 -12/29 (7a-7a)
Will be the only general surgeon providing services at facility over coverage period
Candidates Typical Day
Provide medical, surgical, and consultative care for patients requiring the service of a General Surgeon in the ED, admitted to the hospital, or at the request of another member of the staff.
Schedule/Shift Times
M, W, Friday 8:30 – 4:30P clinic + call
8:30a - 8:30a | Tues, Thurs in the OR + call
Saturday, and Sunday – on call, no scheduled clinic or OR
Procedures
Common Surgeries being performed:
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy
hernia repair inguinal and epigastric
mediports,
breast biopsies,
breast lumpectomy,
excision of cysts or lesions,
appendectomy open or laparoscopic
Bowel resections
Diagnostic laparoscopies
Central venous access procedures
Excision of cysts, moles, etc
24hr call W/ Clinic:

JOB INFORMATION
Admits turning into surgeries: This is dependent on the admit reason. Pure surgical admissions (appendectomy, cholecystectomy etc.) are usually managed by surgical service with Hospitalist following as consult. All other pathologies that will require any non surgical interventions will be admitted to Hospitalist with surgery following as a consult.
*APP/Mid-Level Coverage Avail: NO
*0-1 Admissions while on call; Surgeries, Consults in Ed, etc. Call volume is extremely low
*Approximate number of surgeries per call shift: It is uncommon that 2 or more cases need to be done.
*Other specialties on-site: Gastro, ENT, Podiatry, Orthopedics, Peds, OBGYN, Urology, Wound, Express Care, Internal Med, Endocrinology, Cardiology,
* No DaVinci Robot, but have Stryker tower in every OR.

*Typical scope of General Surgery practice for a community hospital.
*Equipment: Laparoscopic scopes, fully equipped, ultrasound-guided capabilities. CT Scanner on site.
