Emergency Medicine PA - Night Shift Focus (Local Candidates Only)
??We're looking for an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) with an active PA license to provide crucial emergency department coverage. This is a great opportunity for a local provider who can commit to night shifts and is comfortable working with a wide range of patients.
Opportunity Highlights
- Specialty: Emergency Medicine (PA only)
- Schedule: Primarily night coverage (7p-7a) for 4-6 shifts per month. You may be occasionally needed for the following shifts: 7a-7p, 9a-9p, and 7p-7a.
- Important: If you are unwilling to work night shifts, please do not apply for this position.
- Patient Care: You'll see a wide variety of ED patients with a focus on lower acuity cases.
- Responsibilities: Your duties will include seeing patients and performing administrative tasks like radiology and blood work review (though this is often done by employed staff). You may also be required to assist with Triage/Tech responsibilities.
- Work Environment: You will work at two different stroke-certified hospital locations. A physician is always present at night during the following shifts: 3p-1a, 5p-3a, and 9p-7a.
- Patient Volume: You can expect to see 1-2 patients per hour per shift.
- On-Site & On-Call Specialties: On-site specialties include a 24/7 trauma service (also covers acute care general surgery). On-call specialties are extensive and include Neurology, Cardiology with Cath Lab, OBGYN, Orthopedics, and more. There are also 24/7 crisis counselors in the ED.
Requirements
- Licensure: You must have an active PA license. We are looking for candidates who are local enough to drive in.
- Certifications:
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS are required and must be from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
- ATLS is not required.
- You must be Stroke Certified, and your NIHSS and Stroke CME must be kept current annually.
- Experience: You must have Emergency Department experience.
- Compliance: You'll be required to complete mandatory annual EMTALA education, which will be sent to you by the ED Administrative Assistant.
