Schedule /Shift hours 8 hour days, 40 hour weeks for outpatient procedures, inpatient procedures and clinic time. A typical day is 7:30am-4:00pm.

Setting:  Inpatient + Outpatient      If Inpatient, # of beds: 390

Call requirement: None

Average patients per day: 15 


Required Procedures: General Procedures: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Capsule Endoscopy - ordering and reading/interpreting results, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Esophageal manometry - ordering and reading/interpreting results.

Therapeutic procedures that are part of the above: Polypectomy, Biopsy, Endoscopic hemostasis, Stricture dilation, Foreign body removal, Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC)

Hospital/Advanced Procedures: Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) - placement, replacement (outpatient), Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) - sampling, stent placement, stone extraction, dilation, Chol angioscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) - w/ interventions, Bravo pH


Required clinical activity in the last 24 months (case logs) Applicant must provide documentation of provision of gastroenterology services representative of the scope and complexity of the privileges requested during the previous 24 months (applicants who completed training during the previous year must provide a training log).

AND If training to perform double balloon enteroscopy or capsule endoscopy occurred in the previous 2 years applicant must provide a description of supervised training on human subjects along with a letter from the supervising physician attesting to clinical competence as an independent operator. If training occurred greater than 2 years ago the applicant must provide documentation of ongoing clinical practice in each privilege requested.

Required certifications (Must be from AHA or American Red Cross as applicable): BLS and advanced GI training
