We are seeking a highly skilled, Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon to provide dedicated emergency department call coverage for facility, an ACS-verified Level III Trauma Facility in Michigan. This role is focused on managing "bread and butter" orthopedic trauma cases on a rotating basis.

- Coverage Type: Call Only (24-Hour Blocks: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
- Target Outlook: The facility is ideally looking for one committed surgeon to handle these rotating blocks.
Specific Call Blocks Needed (2026)
- August Block: August 18 – August 24 (ending August 25 @ 0700)
- Thanksgiving Block: November 26 – November 29 (ending November 30 @ 0700)
- December Block: December 18 – December 23 (ending December 24 @ 0700)
Clinical Scope & Practice Details
- Setting: Level III Trauma Center. When on call, the surgeon responds only when the Emergency Department requests a consult.
- Case Mix: Standard "bread and butter" general orthopedics, including fractures and sports injuries. A surgeon skilled in Total Joints is highly preferred.
- Exclusions: No spine cases. Complicated or hyper-acute/sick patients are stabilized and transferred out.
- Practice Support: Robust, well-established surgical department including dedicated Orthopedic Physician Assistants (PAs) and full surgical staff. General Surgeons handle the wound care clinic, maximizing your focus on acute ortho.
- Operating Room: Efficient, flexible OR environment with structured block time assignments.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Board Certification: Active Board Certification with the ABOS is strictly required. Note: NBPAS board certification is not accepted at this location.
- Licensure: Active Michigan (MI) medical license, MI CDS, and MI DEA are strictly required.
- Required Certifications: Board Certified status (listed as BE in core fields, but description mandates active ABOS tracking).
