SCHEDULE: 7 am-7 am 

Description: Facility needs a Locums Cardiothoracic Surgeon to cover their need!  

Dates Needing Coverage

  • 7/10-7/20
  • 8/1-8/10
  • September-Ongoing:  10 shifts per month
  • Schedule: 7 am-7 am
  • EMR: Epic
  • 1 CT Surgery dedicated OR
  • 4 available PAs rotate to support the surgeon in the OR
  • Patient Population: Adult/Geriatric
  • TAVR & SAVR:  YES, around 3 patient consults per day; and 1-2 surgeries per day

Program Details

  • The CT surgery program is a 3 Surgeon practice, 7 APP's, and 4 perfusionists who work together with an experienced staff on a dedicated floor that houses both the 10-bed dedicated CVICU (for prep and recovery) and 16-bed Step-down beds. 
  • The surgeons also enjoy a CVOR containing 3 dedicated rooms. 
  • Our surgeons performed over 400 heart surgeries and over 150 Thoracic surgeries (including robotics) this past fiscal year.  
  • The program participates in the STS Registry and aggressively benchmarks performance as part of an ever-vigilant quality and outcomes improvement program

Required Procedures:

  •  Adult cardiac surgery
  •  General thoracic surgery
  •  Aortic dissection
  •  CABG 
  •  Tube thoracostomy
  •  Pericardial window
  •  Thoracotomy, lung resections, and pneumonectomy
  •  Heart valve repair/replacement surgery
  •  Dissection
  •  VA + VV ECMO placement. 
Submission Requirements
  • Successful completion of ACGME or AOA-accredited residency and CT fellowship program - [REQUIRED]
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree; - [REQUIRED]
  • American Board of Surgery or American Board of Thoracic Surgery certification, or obtain certifications within 3 years of employment; - [REQUIRED]
  • Unrestricted full license in Idaho to practice medicine in all its phases OR active IMLC - [REQUIRED] (a copy of the IMLC/LOQ is required at time of Name Clear to avoid any issues)
  • ACLS - [REQUIRED]
  •  Obtain privileges at SARMC - Boise and other health system-affiliated hospitals as needed-[REQUIRED]
  • Valid controlled substance registration with Board of Pharmacy and DEA [REQUIRED]
  • Clean background/no malpractice - [REQUIRED]
  • Must be available to cover 7/10-7/20, 8/1-8/10, September-Ongoing:  10 shifts per month - [REQUIRED]
