Locum Medical Oncologist - Outpatient & Hospital Call

- Monday - Friday: Outpatient Clinic (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, approximate hours) followed by Hospital Call.
About the Opportunity:
Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Oncologist to provide locum coverage. This role involves a Monday through Friday outpatient clinic schedule followed by hospital call responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing both hematological and solid tumor malignancies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing comprehensive medical oncology care in an outpatient clinic setting, seeing approximately 15-20 patients per day.
- Managing a patient mix that is approximately 70% Medical Oncology and 30% Hematology.
- Conducting new patient consultations (allocated 45 minutes per consult, approximately 2 per day) and follow-up appointments (allocated 30 minutes per follow-up).
- Providing hospital call coverage after outpatient clinic hours and on weekends.
- Admitting new patients (to be determined if primarily Oncologist or APP responsibility - please clarify if possible).
- Managing phone calls and occasional hospital-based needs during call coverage.
- Addressing approximately 25% hematology-related calls during call coverage.
- Utilizing EPIC for all patient documentation.
Patient Mix:
- Approximately 70% Medical Oncology (Solid Tumor)
- Approximately 30% Hematology (Non-malignant and Malignant)
New Consult/Follow-Up Time:
- New Consults: 2 per day, allocated 45 minutes each.
- Follow-Up Appointments: Allocated 30 minutes each.
Call Responsibilities:
- After Clinic Hours and Weekends: Responsible for both phone calls and hospital-based needs.
- Focus: Primarily clinic-related calls, with approximately 25% being hematology-related.
Callback Rate: Approximately 5%.
