Position Highlights & Requirements

We are seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for a targeted coverage block supporting in Tyler, TX. The incoming physician will help address high procedural demand and support inpatient consults.

  • Licensure: Active Texas (TX) State Medical License required.
  • Certifications: Board Certified (BC) in Gastroenterology; active ABLS, ACLS, ATLS, and BLS certifications.
  • EHR System: EPIC.
  • Practice Practice Model: Join an established GI service line structured for 3–4 physicians and 3 Advanced Practice Providers (2 NPs, 1 PA-C).
  • Clinical Support: Clinic midlevels manage all pre- and post-procedure patient workups, allowing the locum physician to focus directly on GI lab procedures and rounding.


Daily Scope & Clinical Workflow

  • Procedural Schedule: Monday through Friday dedicated block time in the GI suite performing scheduled colonoscopies and endoscopic procedures.
  • Inpatient Consults: Evaluate inpatient hospitalist consults from the previous night following completed outpatient lab blocks; perform follow-up procedures in the GI suite as clinically indicated.
  • Primary Care Management: Hospitalist teams manage primary medical admission care, consulting GI specifically for procedural interventions and specialized management.
