Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum Board Certification: Board Certified (BC) in General Surgery.
- Minimum Training: Successful completion of an approved residency training program in General Surgery.
- Required Experience (Initial Appointment): Applicants must be able to demonstrate the performance of at least 100 general surgery procedures—reflective of the scope of privileges requested—during the previous 12 months. Alternatively, successful completion of an approved residency, clinical fellowship, or research in a clinical setting within the previous 12 months will be considered.
- Reappointment Requirements: For reappointment, applicants must demonstrate the performance of at least 100 general surgery procedures—reflective of the scope of privileges requested—annually during the reappointment cycle. Continuing medical education relevant to the applicant’s scope of practice is also required.
