Position: Locum Tenens Nephrologist

Assignment Type: Inpatient Coverage

Schedule: Onsite coverage begins at 7:00 AM and lasts for 8 hours, followed by 16 hours of on-call responsibility. The total coverage per shift is 24 hours (7AM – 7AM). For weekend coverage, the call begins at 5 PM on Friday.

Expected callback response time is 60 minutes or less

Physicians are not required to be on-site while providing call support (this means Market should not be charged for callback hours if a physician decides they want to stay in the hospital, but there is not the need for him/her to be there based on the criteria contained herein.)

Patient Census: The average daily census ranges from 30 to 40 patients, primarily requiring nephrology consults, and management within the inpatient setting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nephrology care to hospitalized patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic kidney conditions.
• Responding to nephrology consults and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams.
• Be available for emergent issues and patient needs during on-call hours.
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the medical record.

Requirements:

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine with subspeciality certification in Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine
• Active PA medical license or IMLC with LOQ
• Ability to manage a high-volume inpatient census
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• May: 22–25 (Memorial Day), 29–June 1
• June: 19–22 (Juneteenth)
• July: 24–27
• Sept: 11–14, 18–21
• Oct: 16–19
• Nov: 13–16
• Dec: 11–14

Provider Qualifications

• Licensure: Active Pennsylvania (PA) Medical License.
• Credentialing Speed: Rapid 14-day turnaround.
