Description :
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Anesthesia Provider to join a large academic hospital environment delivering high-quality perioperative anesthesia care across a broad range of surgical specialties. The ideal candidate must be confident, independent, and capable of stepping into a fast-paced clinical setting with minimal ramp-up time.
Clinical Responsibilities
The provider will assess, prepare, and manage patients receiving anesthesia care throughout the perioperative and procedural continuum. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing anesthetic care plans
- Performing pre-anesthetic evaluations and post-operative assessments
- Obtaining informed consent
- Conducting patient history and physical examinations
- Managing anesthesia care during procedures and surgeries
- Airway management
- Invasive monitoring and line placement, including:
- CVP/CVC placement
- Pulmonary artery catheterization
- Intra-arterial lines
Types of Anesthesia Performed
- General Anesthesia
- Regional Anesthesia
- Epidural Anesthesia
- Spinal Anesthesia
- IV Regional Block
- Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC)
Case Mix
Coverage includes a diverse surgical and procedural population, including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopedics
- Trauma
- Plastics
- Neurosurgery
- Pediatrics (ages 5+)
- Endoscopy
- NORA
- Robotic Surgery
- Gynecology
- ENT
Excludes:
- Cardiac Cases
- Obstetrics
- Blocks
Practice Environment
- Large academic hospital setting
- Collaborative anesthesia team environment
- Medical direction model
- CRNA to anesthesiologist ratio: 2:1 or 3:1
- Other anesthesia providers will be present during coverage
- Patient handoffs completed as appropriate for the care setting
Schedule & Coverage
Full-time coverage only:
- Monday – Friday
- No weekends
- No call requirement
Shift options may include:
- 10-hour shifts: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Thursdays begin at 7:00 AM
Standard coverage schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of anesthesia experience required
- Providers must be able to “hit the ground running”
- At least 1 year of experience required by time of credentialing completion
- Active licensure required
- Penn State does not accept IMLC
- CRNAs do not require DEA licensure in Pennsylvania
- Temporary privileges are not available
