Description

Hospital is looking for 1 general surgeons to cover the dates listed below for up to 1 year. 1 general surgeon working at a time. The on site surgeon will attend to scheduled clinic patients Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., provide 24-hour call coverage, and provide post-op care, consultations scheduled and emergency surgery.  


Schedule/Availability Requirements:

Monday - Friday, 8a-5p and 24 hour call. - Start date as soon as credentialed. 

7-10 block schedule for one year. 

 Provide is on call 24/7 while working. Shift time 5:30am-5:30am

3/23 clinic 8a-5p

3/24- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

3/25- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

3/26- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

3/27-call only 5:30am-5:30am

3/28-call only 5:30am-5:30am

4/20-4/23 clinic 8a-5p

4/24- call only 5:30am-5:30am

5/31- call only 5:30am-5:30am

6/1-6/2 clinic 8a-5p

6/3- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

6/14- call only 5:30am-5:30am

6/15- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

6/16- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

6/17- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

6/18- clinic and call 5:30am-5:30am

From site on schedule:

Here's a typical schedule we use and expect the locum surgeons to follow with mutually agreed upon variation as necessary:

Monday: 

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Around 14-16 patients scheduled to be seen in the clinic. 

The surgeon is also on call for the hospital during this time frame as well as from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the next day.


Tuesday: 

7:30 a.m. to noon: Surgeries in the OR.  

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Around 10-12 patients scheduled in the clinic. 

The surgeon is also on call for the hospital during this time frame as well as from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the next day.


Wednesday: 

7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Surgeries in the OR.

The surgeon is also on call for the hospital during this time frame as well as from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the next day.


Thursday: 

7:30 a.m. to noon: Surgeries in the OR.

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Around 10-12 patients scheduled in the clinic.

The surgeon is also on call for the hospital during this time frame as well as from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the next day.


Friday: 

7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Surgeries in the OR.

The surgeon is also on call for the hospital during this time frame as well as from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the next day.


Saturday: 

On call from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Sunday.


Sunday: 

On call from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday, assuming the locum surgeon is off the next week.  All handoffs from one locum to the sole remaining general surgeon in Pendleton are at 5:30 a.m.  


Setting: Acute care and clinic practice

Duties: See above and providers must be able to respond to traumas in the ED. 

Days per month: 20 to be covered by the same two to three surgeons.

  • Screening Colonscoples
  • Cholecystectomy
  • Hernia repair with mesh
  • Diagnostic EGD
  • Excision of breast
  • Repair abdominal wall with synthetic substitue
  • Appendectomy
  • Skin Excision
  • Hemorrhoidectomy

EMR: Meditech in the hospital and eCW in the clinic

Support Staff: Complete staff in the hospital and typical support medical assistants and RN (as necessary) in the clinic

Reason for Coverage: Retirement

Deal breakers: Candidates must be willing to work in a clinic office setting in addition to taking hospital call.  Candidates must practice as if they are full time employees of the facility.

Additional information from site: 500 surgeries per year or 10 per week, 75% of which are outpatient.  Inpatient admissions per week 2.  Clinic patients/day 14-16.

  • Timeframe: We will provide temporary privileges until full privileges are approved
  • Requirements: BC
  • Credentialing with other facilities? No
  • Billing enrollment - Is this position providing services in lieu of an existing enrolled provider for a period of 60 days or less? No



Submission Requirements

  • Board Certified - [Required]
  • State License – Oregon [Required] Client will accept a provider for the May/June start that's OR license is ALREADY in process.
  • Residency Requirements/Fellowship – [Required]
  • ACLS, BLS, DEA - [Required]
  • Malpractice Clean - [Highly Preferred]
  • Self-Query NPDB report is mandatory at the time of presentation. The Self-Query NPDB report must be dated within 30 days of the presentation date. - [REQUIRED]
