We are seeking Board-Certified Gastroenterologists for an ongoing, high-acuity assignment in New Mexico. The facility is looking to secure a single dedicated provider—or multiple providers—to establish reliable, recurring block coverage for two weeks each month. Locum-to-permanent candidates are highly welcome.
?Position Overview
- Specialty: Gastroenterology (High Acuity / Fellowship Preferred)
- Start Date: ASAP (Urgent need for July dates)
- End Date: Ongoing (Permanent replacement track)
- Coverage Type: 24-Hour Call + Inpatient Rounding
- Schedule: Monday to Monday (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM). Rounding hours are Monday–Sunday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8 hours in-house, followed by off-site page call).
- EMR: Epic
Clinical Requirements
- Procedures: ERCP and EUS are strictly required. Candidates must be proficient in both.
- Acuity: This is a high-acuity environment; fellowship-trained GI physicians are strongly preferred.
Available 2026 Coverage Blocks
Providers must be able to cover a full 7-to-14 day consecutive stretch. Half-week submissions will not be considered.
- July 6 – 12 (Urgent)
- August 3 – 10
- August 31 – September 7
- September 28 – October 5
- October 26 – November 2
- November 23 – 30
Requirements & Qualifications
- Board Status: Board Certified (BC) is an absolute must.
- Licensure: Active New Mexico (NM) Medical License required at the time of submission.
- Controlled Substances: Active NM Board of Pharmacy registration AND a DEA certificate that can be fully dedicated to New Mexico (cannot be cycled/switched between states week-to-week).
- Certifications: Active ACLS and BLS.
- Background: 100% clean background history is mandatory to qualify for temporary privileges.
Credentialing Timeline
- Process Duration: 90 Days (Temporary privileges are available for candidates with completely clean files to expedite the urgent July/August blocks).
