Response time to be onsite (per by-laws/program requirements): 15 minutes


Situations when the on-call locum would be called to the hospital: Physician would need to come on-site when called by the Emergency Department or a consulting physician for the full scope of emergent general surgery needs for adults and pediatrics (non-trauma facility). 


Physicians are required to provide supporting notes listed on their timesheet entries to verify Call Back hours (patient contact hours) and Overtime hours submitted and associated with the acceptable occurrences. 


Physicians must document in the timesheet the specific reason for the call back and they should have a description such that the note can be validated if an audit report was generated in an electronic health record. 


Overtime hours must be pre-approved by a manager or designee. Overtime is considered hours over 40 hours. 


Telephone calls and medical record reviews should not be considered on site call back 


Call-back time does NOT include travel time to or from where they are being housed when responding to a hospital request. 


Physician is not required to be on-site while providing Call Support.
