Description :
We are seeking a qualified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide outpatient psychiatric services for children and adolescents, with participation in weekend on-call coverage for the Acute Behavioral Health Stabilization Unit. This position offers a combination of outpatient clinical care and inpatient behavioral health support within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
A secondary opportunity may be available for PRN coverage within the Acute Behavioral Health Stabilization Unit as needed.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Clinic hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- No patient appointments scheduled during the lunch hour
Patient Population
- Children and adolescents ages 4–17 years
Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
- Provide comprehensive mental health services for pediatric and adolescent patients.
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals and support staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Document patient encounters and treatment plans in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Patient Volume
- Appointment lengths may range from 20–120 minutes, depending on visit type and provider preference.
- Visits are scheduled in 20-minute increments.
- Average patient volume: 7–10 patients per day.
Clinic Support Team
The outpatient clinic is supported by a multidisciplinary team serving six providers, including:
- 2 Psychiatrists
- 1 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- 2 Licensed Therapists
Additional clinic support includes:
- 2 Front Office Staff
- 1 Registered Nurse (RN)
- 0.5 FTE RN Clinic Manager
Weekend On-Call Coverage: Acute Behavioral Health Stabilization Unit
Call Schedule
- Approximately 1 weekend every 6–7 weeks
- Coverage begins Friday at 5:00 PM and ends Monday at 8:00 AM
Responsibilities
- Remain available by phone 24 hours per day during assigned call coverage.
- Review and accept new admissions referred from the Emergency Department.
- Most admissions are voluntary and have been evaluated by a Crisis Interventionist.
- Manage occasional involuntary admissions and mental health holds.
- Conduct daily inpatient rounds on:
- Newly admitted patients
- Existing behavioral health inpatients
Patient Volume
- Average daily census: approximately 15 patients across all behavioral health units.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Fellowship training and/or experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry preferred
- Active and unrestricted state medical license
- DEA registration, as applicable
- Current BLS certification (if required by facility)
