Position Overview
The facility is seeking a qualified Locum Orthopedic Surgeon to provide Level II Orthopedic Trauma Call coverage on an ongoing basis. The facility is willing to accommodate provider availability and schedule any two weekends per month.
This opportunity offers a combination of trauma and general orthopedic case management within a busy Level II Trauma Center environment.
Schedule & Call Coverage
- Coverage required for 2 weekends per month
- Call begins Friday at 7:00 AM and ends Monday at 7:00 AM
- Ongoing assignment starting August 1
- Flexible scheduling; facility will work around locum provider availability
Facility Details
- Level II Trauma Center
- Approximately 40,000 adult emergency department visits annually
- Mix of general orthopedic and trauma cases
- Dedicated 7:00 AM operating room block daily
- No designated trauma-only operating rooms
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide Level II orthopedic trauma call coverage
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat orthopedic trauma patients
- Manage general orthopedic consults and surgical cases as needed
- Perform operative and non-operative fracture care
- Collaborate with emergency medicine, trauma, and hospital-based teams
- Participate in inpatient rounding and follow-up care during coverage periods
Patient Volume
- Approximately 8 hours of total patient-facing time per day
- Consistent volume of orthopedic trauma and general orthopedic cases
Qualifications
Required:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
- Active and unrestricted medical license (or ability to obtain licensure)
- Experience managing orthopedic trauma cases in a Level II Trauma Center setting
- Current DEA and applicable certifications
Preferred:
- Previous trauma call coverage experience
- Strong surgical and fracture management skills
Fellowship Requirements
- Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship is NOT required
- Candidates with Level II orthopedic trauma experience will be considered and are acceptable for this position
