Description

Hospital is seeking a Board Certified in Hand Surgery, available to 24-hour trauma call coverage approximately 10 days per month.


Details:

  • date of coverage: ASAP - December 2026
  • Practice Setting: 24-hour Trauma Call 
  • Shift Schedule: 0700a – 0700a
  • Reason for Coverage: Insufficient local hand coverage for 24/7/365 needs about 10 days a month
  • Call Ratio: Negotiable
  • Patient Demographics: Ages 15 years and older (adolescent through geriatric)
  • Number of Plastic Surgeon in Practice: 1 (Hand coverage), 1 community provider (Plastics), 2 hospital employed (Ortho Hand)

Case Volume:

  • Average: 1 surgical case per month
  • Summer months: Approximately 3 per month
  • Annual ER Volume: 90,000

Clinic Responsibilities:

  • In-person response when procedures are required
  • Patient contact would include consults, procedures, or follow up visits when scheduled.  
  • Supported through Trauma Clinic: Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM; SPB Suite 600

Required Procedures:

  • Hand-related procedures
  • Traumatic hand reconstruction
  • General plastic surgery procedures including Facial laceration repair, Scar revisions, Skin grafts, Flaps
  • Minor burn care


Credentialing takes 120+ days 


The sites has about 50 "hand cases" perm year. 

BULK of what they will experience is simply being on call without many calls. As we begin our busy season in Trauma, the pace will pick up a bit, but not much. The goal is to not transfer these patients out.


Submission Requirements

ALL MUST BE NOTATED AT TIME OF NAME CLEAR

  • Board Certified in Orthopedic, Plastic, or General Surgery - [REQUIRED]
  • Must have completed a Fellowship in Hand Surgery - [REQUIRED]
  • Active MI license - [REQUIRED], will accept need to obtain but it Must be a FULL MI LICENSE - no compact or IMLC
  • BLS and ACLS - [HIGLY PREFFERED]
  • Self-Query NPDB (Should be pulled within the month) [REQUIRED] at time of presentation.
