Trauma Surgery Locum Opportunity in California

Medical Center Redding is looking for Trauma Service APP (PA or NP) Coverage! Candidate should not have just critical care experience, must have Trauma!!!

Schedule/Availability Requirements:

June 5-6 and June 17-21

July and Aug all month, looking for 7 on/7 off preferably

PM shift (3 p.m. to 1 a.m.)

May be some 6a-4p shifts, new locums cannot work those shifts in the beginning as there is not much support on those shifts

Setting: Level II Trauma Center

Duties:

Required Procedures: Low/moderate risk procedures such as laceration repair, IV access/IV insertion-peripheral line, fracture and dislocation reductions (minimal/moderate displacement). High risk procedures: G-tube placement, endotracheal intubation, cardioversion/defibrillation, LMA, paracentesis, chest tubes, central and arterial line placement.

EMR: Cerner Care B

?Support Staff: There will be one other Trauma NP/PA who works day shift (7a-5p).

Surgical Assist is NOT part of the job, Trauma APPs and Neuro-Trauma do not provide surgical assists to Surgeons, but the locum candidate can choose to apply for surgical assist privileges if they qualify! 

Details:

-NP or PA - Trauma experience

- qualified to manage pediatric trauma patients (pediatric trauma volume is low but experience is required for this assignment)

-Trauma Level/Designation: Level II Trauma Center

-Average Number of ICU Patients per Provider per day: 20-25 patients, daily patient census on Trauma Service.

-Other Details of Role: (anything else Provider should consider or that should be asked prior to presenting): Few to zero pediatric patients on service

How many other support staff members are there?:  There will be one other Trauma NP/PA who works day shift (7a-5p).  

How many physicians will the locum be supporting? They will be supporting the one trauma surgeon on call and responsible for monitoring, managing, and discharging all of the patients on the trauma service.

Submission Requirements

**!!MUST NOTATE ALL DURING NAME CLEARS!!**

• NCCPA or ANCC Certified – Required
• CA active license – Required (NPs must have CA NP furnishing number); Completion of CA CSEC (California Controlled Substance Education Course (PA's Only)
• CA DEA, ACLS, ATLS – Required during credentialing. For ATLS, MUST HAVE AT SUBMISSION - HARD REQUIREMENT. Locums must maintain ACLS, BLS, and ATLS while on assignment!
• Availability at time of name clear – Required
• Clean Malpractice / Background – Highly preferred
• Local, No flights - HIGHLY PREFERRED

Must be actively working at a TJC-accredited hospital – Required
