Clinical Scope & Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency and urgent cardiothoracic surgical call coverage.
• Perform emergent open and minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgical interventions as indicated.
• Oversee acute postoperative stabilization and care plans in collaboration with the intensive care unit team.
• Maintain complete and timely documentation, operative notes, and order entry in Cerner.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

• Education & Training: ACGME/AOA-accredited residency/fellowship training in Thoracic / Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Board Certification: Active Board Certification through the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS - Thoracic/Cardiothoracic).
• Licensing: Active, unrestricted South Carolina state medical license in hand or ready to activate via the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
• Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS credentials.
• Availability: Flexible availability to cover scheduled call blocks on an ongoing basis.
