Description : We are seeking an experienced Locum Cardiologist to provide inpatient cardiology and electrophysiology (EP) coverage. This opportunity requires a consistent monthly commitment beginning in January, with responsibilities spanning weekday inpatient cardiology services, overnight call coverage, and weekend General and EP Cardiology services.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable managing urgent inpatient cardiology cases, providing EP support, and performing TEE independently.
Schedule & Availability Requirements
- Start Date: January
- Monthly Commitment: 10 days per month on an ongoing basis.
- Preferred Schedule: Two 5-day coverage blocks, with each block including a weekend. Coverage may be provided by one or two locum physicians.
- Alternative Schedule: One continuous 10-day coverage block per month, including two weekends.
- Providers must be available for ongoing monthly coverage.
- Coverage must extend through at least 7:00 AM Monday morning.
- Early Monday departures and Sunday evening departures are not permitted.
Important: Candidates must be able to commit to the required monthly schedule beginning in January. Availability requirements are mandatory.
Clinical Responsibilities
Weekday Coverage
- Cover the inpatient cardiology service in collaboration with an inpatient Advanced Practice Clinician (APC).
- Provide weeknight call coverage (Monday–Friday).
- Respond to urgent inpatient needs, including:
- Urgent inpatient cardiac catheterizations.
- Temporary pacemaker placements.
- STEMI cases.
- STAT echocardiograms.
- Electrophysiology (EP) calls.
Weekend Coverage
- Provide General Cardiology and Electrophysiology (EP) hospital service coverage.
- Manage and assist with urgent inpatient cardiology cases.
- Provide coverage for inpatient cardiac catheterizations, STEMIs, and STAT echocardiograms.
- Support urgent EP consultations and inpatient EP needs during weekends and weeknight call.
EP Coverage: EP responsibilities are included in this position. The locum physician will assist with urgent inpatient EP cases and consultations during weekends and weeknights. Weekday EP coverage will be handled by an EP cardiologist.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Cardiologist with the ability to independently manage inpatient cardiology services.
- Must be out of fellowship and practicing independently for at least one year.
- TEE experience and proficiency are required.
- Must be able to provide inpatient General Cardiology and EP coverage.
- Must be comfortable managing urgent inpatient cardiology cases and overnight call responsibilities.
- Must commit to the required 10 days of coverage every month beginning in January.
