We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for a long-term, ongoing 24-hour shift assignment at an accredited Critical Access Hospital in Michigan. This role is ideal for a provider looking for a high-yield, block-scheduled environment with well-balanced daily volumes and straightforward regional transfer protocols to a nearby Level II regional medical center.
?Initial & Block Schedule Needs
- Mandatory Orientation: June 30, 2026 (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
- Launch Block: July 1 (8:00 AM) – July 4 (8:00 AM).
- Summer Follow-Up Blocks: * July 21 – July 25
- August 24 – August 30
- Note: Long-term ongoing scheduling opportunities remain open beyond August.
Facility Overview & Workload
- Shift Model: 24-hour continuous, in-house shifts (0800 – 0800).
- Department Volume Matrix: * Annual ED Volume: ~8,000 visits.
- Average Patient Load: ~25 patients per 24-hour shift.
- Admission Rate: 3.4% | Transfer Rate: 3.8% (18 Acute Inpatient beds available; average daily inpatient census of 6).
- Nursing Support Structure: Highly staffed nursing model to ensure smooth triage:
- 0700 – 1900: 2 RNs
- 1900 – 0700: 2 RNs
- 1100 – 2300: 1 RN (Mid-day peak helper)
- Acuity & Accreditation: Chest Pain Accredited, Joint Commission Accredited, and actively working toward a Trauma Level 4 designation. Includes a fully staffed on-site Obstetrics Unit with a NICU.
- Transfer Pipeline: Higher-level care escalations are streamlined; a primary Regional Medical Center (Trauma Level II facility) is situated just 15 miles east, permitting rapid patient transfers.
- EMR: MediTech.
Requirements
- Licensure: Active Michigan (MI) Medical License in hand. IMLC compact routes will not be accepted for this position.
- Life Support: Active ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
